MARMOTA Broad Peak 2010: Členovia expedície
Expedition members

For the first time since its foundation The Marmota Broad Peak Expedition will lead members of the Alpine Hiking Club Marmota to the Karakoram Range at the Pakistani-Tibetan borders. The expedition contains two “Marmotians” and two non-members of the hiking club. Although every member of the expedition had already been in the altitude about 7.000 meters, the 12th highest mountain in the world called Broad Peak (8.047 m) is surely the greatest challenge of their existing “alpine career”. These are short reviews of the expedition members:

Juraj Rebro

JURAJ REBRO (the advance group leader)

Graduated in Math and Physics, Juraj is an original inhabitant of Bratislava. He currently works as a manager for the IT company. He promises that he will put the antagonistic attitude of Islam towards liquors to test as he will celebrate his 40th birthday right in Pakistan. He is married and has two sons - Adam (8) and Matej (6). Since 1985 Juraj engages in sky-diving and up until today he did more than 3.000 parachute jumps. Three times he had taken a part in the world championship in the group skydiving acrobatics, he is a holder of two world records. High mountains took his heart in the beginning of the 3th millennium. After ascent of Elbrus (2004) he took part in some trips to the Alps which made him reach summits of almost 20 of the alpine four-thousanders. After this, higher and higher he went - Kilimanjaro (2005), Pik Lenina (2007), Damavand (2008), and Aconcagua (2009). In summer 2009 he reached the summit of Muztagh Ata (7546 m) and he down-hill skied it afterwards.

Jan Doležal

JAN DOLEŽAL

Born Moravian, in present days he lives in Dolný Kubín, Orava. Jan has four children and works in a computer company as an analyst and a manager. The oldest member of the expedition (born in 1956), he already was on an eight-thousander and did many interesting and valuable climbs. In the Alps he reached summits of more than 20 four-thousanders, in Caucasia he made it to the summit of Elbrus, Donguz Orum and Džan Tugan. In Morocco he stood on the mountaintops of 5 four-thousanders and during the expedition to Turkey he reached summits of Ararat and Mount Kackar. He made two extraordinary climbs in Pamir – Pik Lenina (2007) through the classic way and a very valuable first-climb to the Korumdy East (2008). His first Himalayan experience if from under Shisha Pangma, where he managed to reach the altitude of 7.600 meters.

Tomáš Rigoci

TOMÁŠ RIGOCI

Tomáš is the second member of the expedition with grad in Math and Physics and was born in Nitra. He is father of daughter Monika (which follows her father´s example) and son Jakub. Since his graduation in 1992 he also works in the IT trade but he also has some minor business activities in tourism and devotes his entire free time mainly to outdoor activities (hiking, mountaineering, ski alpinism) and active exercising (running, squash). He celebrated his 40th birthday in summer 2009 in a base camp under a Muztagh Ata peak in China. For some time, he almost exclusively climbs with his “twin” Juraj Rebro so the list of their conquered peaks is almost the same. Tomáš reached summit of more than 30 four-thousanders in the Alps including the highest Mont Blanc, Elbrus (2004), Pik Lenina (2007), Damavand (2008), Aconcagua (2009) and already mentioned Muztagh Ata, which he down-hill skied afterwards with Juraj.

BRANISLAV "MACO" PASTOR
