MARMOTA Broad Peak 2010: Treková skupina
Trekking group

The trek group contains two of the MARMOTA members (to be precise two female members) along with two non-members. We hope that the 3/4 female majority will help to improve the atmosphere in the team and that the only male will enjoy his time and “live high off the hog.” The girl group contains experienced mountaineers that have been hiking for several years. On the other hand, Juraj will experience completely new thing as his personal record is 3.000 meters altitude.

Mika Kamasová

MIKA KAMASOVÁ (trek group leader)

Mika was born in Vrútky and graduated as an electrical engineer. She currently lives in Bratislava and works in the sphere of IT technology. She was 36 recently. Last year she married Juraj, who goes with her (so he couldn´t do any mischief while he is home alone). She likes sports since her childhood. She used to play tennis actively and hike passively, but after her university graduation these two sports swapped places. She had been charmed by hiking, especially alpine hiking, rock climbing and ski alpinism. She was a member of several expeditions to the Alps (Mont Blanc, Bern Alps, Gran Paradiso, Dolomite, and Grossvenediger); she also took part in MARMOTA expeditions to Pik Lenin in 2007 (where she had set her altitude record to 6200 m - Pik Razdeľnaja) and Damavand in 2008, where she reached the summit.

Juraj Kamas

ĎURO KAMAS

Ďuro was born in 1978 in Považská Bystrica and was granted a title of bachelor by Žilinská univerzita in economy and social engineering. He lives in Bratislava and earns his living as a programmer. Fortunately, it did no harm to him yet. He is married to the trek group leader, what may sound as an advantage (or is it a disadvantage?). Together they have 0 (in a word “zero”) children. Juraj likes mountains and chalets, old rock music, good beer, canyoning, climbing, World of Warcraft and ski alpinism – all of these things only in a recreational way (including beer). Speaking of mountains, he is quite a “greenhorn” and is interested in them since he met Mika, what means 2 years or so. During this time he managed to climb some of the High Tatras peaks, he also occurred in mountains in Romania and few times in the Alps (mainly for ski alps).

Juta Vaks

JUTA VAKS

The only foreign member of the expedition, Juta was born in Estonia. She lives and works in Tallinn, occasionally in Prague. Since her homeland is almost perfectly plain (the highest peak´s altitude is 318 m), she has to travel abroad to see high mountain ranges. Since 2002 she regularly takes part in summer alpine camps in Caucasus, what was the time when she did several treks and climbs. She also took part in several expeditions to the Alps; she also visited Rocky Mountains in Canada (2007). Last year she was a member of an Estonian expedition to Muztagh Ata, during which she set her height record to 6.200 m altitude. In this expedition she met members of MARMOTA - Juraj and Tomáš. Apart from mountains she likes travelling, swimming and windsurfing, in winter she likes ski touring. And finally - she began to practice quite exotic sports for an Estonian - down-hill skiing and ski alpinism.

Ivana Viskupová

IVANA VISKUPOVÁ

Since her childhood, Ivana likes travelling, nature and mountains. Because of this, she studied in the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University, Bratislava, although Math, which earns her living in present days does not sound so naturally. She claims that the more countries she gets to know, the more she thinks that the most beautiful places on the Earth are solitary cottages around Myjava and Stará Turá (Scandinavia is right after them). Her most favorite activities are ski alpinism and skiing in winter and cycling in summer. She likes to work while relaxing as her second job is to guide people through European countries and their mountains (no matter if on foot or by bike). She was a member of several MARMOTA expeditions through the mountains of Europe and the world (Julian Alps, Dolomite and Grossvenediger). In 2008 she was a member of the expedition to Iran where she had set her record to 5671 m altitude by conquering the summit of Damavand.
